CONTINUOUS CITY FOR 1.000.000 HUNAN BEINGS 1965
▼

Alan Boutwell became acquainted with the ideas of the megastructuralists during his studies and was particularly impressed by the thoughts and designs of Archigram. In 1965, his first designs of modular building systems were released, in which he experimented with new technologies and materials. The project of a gigantic linear city that he created together with Michael Mitchell caused a sensation. It spanned on hundred meter high pillars straight across the American continent. Its interior combined all classical functions of urban life and was connected by a complex traffic system that was differentiated by speed, transportation and distances.

HOUSE VISION 2013 TOKYO EXHIBITION:TOTO・YKK AP / Naruse Inokuma Architects + Azuma Makoto

The annual exposition ‘House Vision’ is a way to show and communicate new ideas for the future house. In 2013 edition Naruse Inokuma Architects and the florist designer Azuma Makoto participated with a proposal of a bath that rethinks the roles of the garden and privacy. The idea is to invert the traditional characteristic of the green wall to propose a green interior coating, so they create peaceful atmosphere between light, plant and the smell that it gives off.

Genetic Architecture, Post Construction by Sergey Prokofyev

In the 20th century the architects competing in speed have aspired to find out the new forms for their buildings. The new construction technologies have favored the complication of the form; the sky-scrappers became more and more unusual. The last tendencies have leaded the architects to the imitation of the natural forms. There appeared the sky-scrappers imitating the forms of the animals or plants. But none of the architects can compete with the nature itself in unpredictability of the forms.

The Ring of Heritage via Lukasz Brzozowski

The concept was to create a multifunctional skyscraper. The idea of a structure around the globe was inspired by Niven’s vision from Ringworld novel and Kardashev’s theory of civilization level. We want to make a huge coil construction with the superconductive core and collect the magnetic power from the Earth’s core. This follows the principle of electromagnetic induction.
